Man dead after truck hits tree in Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person is dead after a crash in Fresno County. It happened on Piedra Road near Highway 180 shortly before 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The California Highway Patrol says a man was driving a truck south when he drifted off the pavement and hit a tree. A man in the passenger seat died at the scene. The driver was taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with minor injuries.

Investigators say they found alcohol in the car, and it appears to be a factor in the crash.

There's no word yet on the driver's name or if he's been arrested.
