Man found dead in Southeast Fresno alleyway

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are investigating a suspicious death in Southeast Fresno.

Fresno police say a 55-year-old man was found lying in an alleyway behind a convenience store near Tulare and 7th Street shortly before 3 p.m. Monday. Officers and paramedics responded to the scene and performed CPR on the man who was not breathing. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives say the man may have been robbed and assaulted within hours of his death, but they are not sure if that played a role in what killed him. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death.
