Man indicted for pointing laser at Fresno police helicopter

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The U.S. Attorney's Office has handed down an indictment for a Fresno man accused of shining a laser light at a Fresno police helicopter. Johnny Quenga, 28, was charged with interfering with the safe operation of Air 1.

Investigators say Quenga aimed the beam of a green laser at the aircraft on March 5. They say the helicopter was repeatedly hit by the powerful light, which was attached to an airsoft rifle. That gun was eventually seized from the suspect's home.

The police helicopter pilots say they experienced trouble seeing while in the air.
