IVANHOE, Calif. (KFSN) -- A South Valley man is dead and now investigators are trying to follow any clues to find who killed him. Tulare County Sheriff's deputies found the man's body Tuesday morning along a busy road in a rural area.

Family members spoke with investigators after the victim was found shot to death in a car parked along 216 and Avenue 320 in Ivanhoe. Authorities haven't identified the victim yet, but said they were alerted to the horrific discovery after someone walked by the car and noticed the crime scene inside.

"At what time the shooting happened we don't exactly know it's being investigated currently, but we got a phone call just after 9:00 a.m. this morning and we responded immediately," said Teresa Douglass, Tulare County Sheriff's Office.

The victim was on the driver's side of the vehicle. Only fragments of smashed glass remain of the driver's side window, and the front of the car has what appears to be a bullet hole.

Investigators are still trying to figure out what happened and when, since they didn't receive any recent reports of shots fired in this area.

Investigators can't say whether the car was the victim's. Deputies aren't sure if the shooting is gang related.

"We always investigate that angle and I haven't heard anything about that yet," said Douglass.

Since authorities have little to go on they're using some new technology to help them recreate the crime scene.
