Man killed in suspicious shooting at east central Fresno apartment

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A 911 caller reported his friend accidentally shot himself, police say, but when they arrived, the caller was nowhere to be found.

Fresno Police are investigating a shooting at the Landing at Fancher Creek Apartments near Peach Avenue and Clay Avenue. Police say a man was shot in the upper torso and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Officers are still trying to locate the person who called 911. Police say they are investigating the incident as a "suspicious death."
