FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police are looking for a man who fired shots at two cars full of people in Central Fresno.

They were targeted at Hughes Avenue and Brown Avenue, near Weber, around 10:40 last night. Police say the man ran up and fired several shots at a white Toyota Camry. The Camry sped off and the suspect then turned his attention to a second car and fired several more shots. The driver threw the car into reverse and hit a pole, then drove off into the front yard of a nearby home.

The suspect ran away and no one was hurt. Detectives are having a hard time pinning down a motive, since the first car took off. However, investigators say the suspect targeted the man and woman in the second car at random.

"He appeared out of the darkness. And there was a vehicle stationed there at that point. So he was actually concealed by headlights. So other than being able to say he had a red sweatshirt, the victims are not able to provide us with any more information," said Lt. Ron Hughes, Fresno Police Department.

Police aren't sure if the first car was an intended target, or if the gunman fired at them at random, as well. Anyone with information is asked to call the Fresno Police Department.
