FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation is underway after authorities say a 36-year-old man was shot in Central Fresno Monday night.

The shooting happened around 9 p.m. in the area of Iowa Avenue and 5th Street. Fresno police believe four suspects pulled up in a car and fired at the man. The victim was shot several times in the upper body as well as in the head. He was last listed in critical condition.

Investigators say the victim was working on his car hours earlier when the suspects pulled up and they got into an argument. Detectives say the suspects went back to the neighborhood and shot him. Police say when the suspects drove away from the scene they crashed into another car.

The suspects' car is described as a 1990s Chevrolet Suburban with 20" chrome wheels. Officers say the vehicle has damage to the driver's side rear portion and possibly has some blue paint transfer.
