Mariposa County wildfire prompts evacuations

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Firefighters are battling a wildfire in the Hunters Valley area of Mariposa County.

The fire, which broke out late Friday afternoon, has grown to about 90 acres and is 15 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.

An evacuation order is in effect from the 7900 Block of Hunters Valley Road to Bear Valley Road, and Bear Valley Road from Hunters Valley Road to the 4400 block/Top of the Ridge of Bear Valley Road, according to the Mariposa County Sheriff's Office.

An evacuation advisement is in effect from the 4500 block of Bear Valley Road to Highway 49 North.

There are also road closures in place: Hunters Valley Road at Bear Valley Road and Hunters Valley Access Road at Bear Valley Road.

The Red Cross has set up an evacuation center at Cathey's Valley Baptist Church -- 4565 Cornetts Entrance Road.
