MERCED, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Merced man is searching for answers after someone opened fire on his house three times in one night. Police say the three shootings happened within about an hour of one another.

The victim says he's lived in the same house for 45 years and has no idea why anyone would target him. He's offering a reward in hopes of getting some answers.

Bullet holes can be found all over Carl Aguilar's home at 4th and S streets in Merced.

Aguilar said, "They came three times, shooting the house up, I don't know why."

Merced police say they first went to the area around 12:20 in the morning on Tuesday when the house was struck several times.

Aguilar added, "The bullets came within 12 inches of my head, my back so it was pretty close."

Officers got a second call around 1:00 a.m. and found two cars in the driveway were hit. They returned about an hour later after someone fired several shotgun rounds into the front door. Aguilar's father says he's still in shock.

"It scared the hell out of me because this has never happened to us," said Louis Aguilar. "All these years, and overnight, something is wrong, very wrong."

Louis Aguilar now lives in Le Grand but says he felt safe raising his family on this street, which is also next to an elementary school. Aguilar has now posted signs in the area offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest and conviction.

Aguilar said, "I can't sit peacefully in my own home, I need to do something about it."
