Mother arrested for child endangerment after toddler is spotted playing on 2nd story ledge
A pedestrian with his eyes to the sky may have prevented an ugly accident near Downtown Fresno. He spotted a toddler playing on a ledge outside a second story window.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A pedestrian with his eyes to the sky may have prevented an ugly accident near Downtown Fresno. He spotted a toddler playing on a ledge outside a second story window.

The incident happened at about 10 Tuesday morning at H and Inyo Street. Two police officers arrived at an abandoned warehouse to find a four-year-old in diapers on the second story ledge-- about 25 feet above ground with nothing to break his fall.

"The arriving officer asked for the fire department with the ladder. And he was able to coax the boy back into the open window. The officers that-- the door was unlocked so the officers went inside the apartment and the mother was asleep, so she was totally unaware that the little boy was up there," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno Police Department.

Police arrested the boy's mother for child endangerment and drug possession.

The owner of the building told police the mom and another woman living in the building are squatters who moved in without his permission.
