FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed in Northeast Fresno early Sunday morning.

Fresno police say they responded to the Fresno Square townhomes on Cedar north of Gettysburg around 2 a.m. and found a 20-year-old man lying on a driveway in the middle of the complex. They say he was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso.

The man was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he was last listed in critical condition.

Investigators say the victim was at a party at one of the apartments when three uninvited guests showed up and started causing problems. They say the victim was helping get the three men to leave when he was stabbed.

One of the suspects is described as being 5'5" tall with a heavy build. He has a tattoo on his chest of the number 14 in Roman numerals (XIV).

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact the Fresno Police Department at (559) 621-7000.
