No explosives were found on a Turkish Airlines flight bound for Istanbul that was diverted to Ireland on Sunday.

Turkish authorities said a note was found in the bathroom of flight TK34 that only had "bomb" written on it. The flight, which had left Houston, was diverted to Ireland's Shannon Airport.

The aircraft was met by police and a bomb disposal unit, said the Irish National Police Service. The passengers and crew were taken to a secure area of the airport during the search.

Passengers were expected to continue their trip to Istanbul on Sunday evening after the search was conducted.
