One dead in single car crash in Prather

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- One person is dead and another is injured after a late night crash in Prather.

The accident happened a little before midnight in the area of Lodge Road and Auberry Road. Authorities believe the driver somehow lost control of the car, went off the road, and hit a tree. They say the driver managed to get out of a car and walked to the side of the road to flag down a sheriff's deputy.

His passenger died at the scene. The coroner's office has identified him as 37-year-old Jason Hydeman.

Authorities say it is too early to tell if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
