One killed in three vehicle crash near Madera

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The crash happened just after 9:30 last night in the area of Road 26 near Club Drive. CHP officers say a Mazda 3 drove into the southbound lane of Road 26 to pass traffic and hit a Chevy Tahoe, and then collided with a Chevy truck.

The Mazda driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say this is a crash that could have been avoided.

"At this time, it's under investigation. However, it does appear to be an alcohol related fatality," said Pablo Reyna, CHP.

The driver of the Chevy truck suffered major injuries and was taken to Community Regional Medical Center. The Chevy Tahoe driver suffered minor injuries.
