FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A top Fresno car thief wanted for five auto theft warrants has been booked into jail.

The Fresno HEAT Team arrested Chris Lamb, 32, near Marks Avenue and Highway 180 in West Central Fresno late Tuesday afternoon. He was driving a stolen truck when officers recognized him. HEAT Team investigators say Lamb is a notorious car thief and has warrants totaling up to $2 million.

Adam Duren owns the truck Lamb was driving when he was arrested. He says it was stolen from his home Monday morning.

"This is irritating. I understand there's a lot of homeless people and everybody needs a second chance but this guy's had too many," said Duren.

Fresno HEAT officers say a lot of auto theft is avoidable. Duren left his keys hidden in the car and officers says it's all too common. They also recommend putting garage-door openers out of plain sight so thieves can't break into your home once they've gotten inside your car.
