Overnight crash in Tulare County leaves man dead

FRESNO, Calif. -- Investigators are trying to figure out how a driver smashed into a tree and died in an overnight crash in Tulare County.

The California Highway Patrol said a 26-year-old driver was traveling on State Route 63 near Avenue 424, north of Orosi, around 2:30 Sunday morning. For some reason, the car drifted off the road and into a tree. The driver was ejected.

It's unclear if they were under the influence and the driver died at the crash site.
