Fresno police said a thief known as the Pajama Bottom Bandit has been arrested.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police said a thief known as the Pajama Bottom Bandit has been arrested.

Officers closed in on him at a home near Yale and Blackstone. A K-9 was sent in and the suspect -- 39-year-old Gabriel Gutierrez-- was found hiding under a couch. Police said Gutierrez resisted and the dog bit him on the arm.

Investigators have been searching for him for weeks. Surveillance cameras recently caught the bandit breaking into a car wash while wearing black and gray pajama bottoms. Video also allegedly shows him stealing $9,000 in rent checks from an apartment complex. "Media has been very helpful with this, we got 44 Crimestopper tips on this guy which led us to this house with his wife and other family here," said Lt. Joe Gomez, Fresno police Department.

Gutierrez was also wanted for auto theft.

Paramedics took him to the hospital for treatment and then he'll be booked into the Fresno County jail.

Police also arrested his wife and she could face charges for harboring a wanted criminal.
