Police arrest suspected arsonist in Downtown Fresno

Fresno Police say they have arrested 39-year-old Efrain Mendoza on three separate counts of arson in Downtown Fresno.

A Police detective spotted Mendoza near Fresno and B Street and recognized him from surveillance video. Investigators said after he was taken into custody, Mendoza admitted to starting at least three fires -- including one where a Fresno Police Department vehicle was burned.

Police are still investigating whether Mendoza is tied to any other suspected arson fires in downtown Fresno.
