Police chief from Texas stops shoplifter in Midtown

MIDTOWN MANHATTAN -- The chief of police in Sunset Valley, Texas, stopped a shoplifter in Midtown.

It happened at the Abercrombie and Fitch store on Fifth Avenue near 58th Street Friday afternoon.

A 26-year-old man put a cologne bottle in his pocket and left the store.

Two store employees followed the suspect out of the store.

Police Chief Sean Ford saw a struggle between the two employees and the suspect.

Chief Ford stepped in and held down the suspect until police arrived.

The accused shoplifter was taken to the Midtown North precinct stationhouse on a larceny charge.
