Police investigate a fatal crash in Porterville

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A deadly accident shut down a highway in Porterville Thursday night for hours. The accident happened around 5:30pm on Highway 65 near Avenue 128.

The CHP says the driver of a sedan was heading north on Highway 65 when he failed to slow down for backed up traffic. The sedan rear ended a Lexus sending it into the path of a southbound semi-truck.

A 41-year-old man who was driving the Lexus died, his teenage passenger was flown to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

The semi-truck driver was taken to a local hospital complaining of neck pain. The driver who started the collision was not hurt.
