Fresno homicide detectives say they are working around the clock to find the suspect in this case.
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno police are investigating the city's first homicide of 2015. And now the search is on for who is responsible for the deadly shooting.
Investigators were first called to the Valero gas station on Jensen and Elm streets just before midnight. When they got there they found a 23-year-old man and 31-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. The 31-year-old died shortly afterwards.
Investigators aren't sure if the two victims knew one another but they happened to be standing near each other because they have a mutual friend that they were talking to at the gas station. Detectives are also looking into whether the shooting has any ties to gangs.
"They arrived in separate vehicles at the gas station. We don't know at this point what provoked the shooting," said Lt. Mark Salazar with the Fresno Police Department. "We do know gang members are involved on the side of the victims, not to say the victims were gang members but there were other people with the victims there were at least 3 people and so we don't know if that was a role in this murder but we'll look at that."
The shooting happened in the middle of a busy gas station. Several cars and the building were damaged with bullets. Fresno homicide detectives say they are working around the clock to find the suspect in this case.
