REEDLEY, Calif. (KFSN) -- Detectives are searching for two drive-by shooters after a Christmas Eve shooting in Reedley.

The shooting happened late Wednesday night near Buttonwillow and Manning avenues. Action News has learned the victim was shot several times, but he is going to be OK. Reedley police still don't know who the suspects are.

Gauze and police tape hastily abandoned marks the spot where a drive-by victim was shot in his front yard. Reedley police say the victim was shot several times in the stomach while he was standing outside his house.

"It was Christmas Eve, I was coming here to eat you know, and all of a sudden there's like a crime scene right next to your house. It's like whoa," said witness Ricardo Ramirez. He came upon the scene after driving from San Jose to see family.

Police believe two suspects in dark clothing drove by late Wednesday night. Reedley police say the victim is being cooperative and doesn't know who could've targeted him.

"I had cops stopping me saying, 'hey you can't come this way because there's a crime scene right here.' I just asked him, 'what am I supposed to do because my sister lives right there and I've got nowhere else to go.' And so he said I could park down there and he would escort me in," said Ramirez.

The intersection was blocked off well into the morning hours, and witnesses say it's an area that's not immune to crime.

"It's a bad area. I've been coming here for a few years and there's gang stuff and all that," said Ramirez.

Reedley police currently don't know if the crime is gang-related. Other reports of gunfire in the Fresno area were reported Christmas day. No one was injured at a shooting at Marks and Fairmont avenues in Northwest Fresno, but investigators are still searching for a suspect.
