Run to benefit those with cerebral palsy coming to Hanford

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Soon you can lace up your running shoes to walk, roll even stroll for a great cause.

United Cerebral Palsy wants you to join them at their annual fundraiser. At 4-years-old, Lillie Va'asili is eager to excel in and out of the classroom.

"She's a very happy child," her father Freddie said. "You couldn't tell just by looking at her the limitations she has physically and developmentally.

Lillie was born with several medical conditions, including bone dysplasia. That's when her parents Freddie and Diana were introduced to the childrens program at UCP.

"It really helped us to be around a good support system like UCP," her mom said. "Because they've just been really amazing to us and we just want to help out."

"I've been able to watch Lily from the start," Kimberly Regnerus with UCP said. "Until now, shes always been an amazing little kid but she had just transformed herself."

And her transformation is only beginning, Lillie is now in pre-school at Pioneer Elementary. She may have a long road ahead of her, but her goal is to walk.

"We envision a world where disability is neither defining or limiting and that is what the Va'asili family is all about," Regnerus said.

Making them a fitting ambassador family for this year's Walk and Roll fundraiser.

"All of our programs are free for those who qualify, so this is a way for us to make sure were able to reach all of the kids who need our services," Regnerus said.

This saturday, hundreds are expected to lace up their running shoes to hit the track at Hanford High. Registration is at 9 a.m. and teams will walk and roll starting at 10 a.m.
