Sequoia National Forest wildfire at 5 percent containment

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- More than 600 firefighters are battling a wildfire in the Sequoia National Forest.

The Nicolls Fire is burning in the Kiavah Wilderness. Rangers were forced to shut down the area on Saturday.

The fire started Friday afternoon and has now burned nearly 1,200 acres. Aircraft are dropping water and retardant to stop the flames from spreading. Helicopters are also bringing ground crews into the area.

The fire is now 5 percent contained, and the cause is still under investigation.
