Shooting near Miramonte leaves man dead

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A man was killed after being shot in a rural part of the county Saturday, according to the Fresno County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting happened near Hogback Road and Whitaker Forest Road. Authorities said a man in his late teens or early 20s was found with a gunshot wound on a property and died.

Authorities said a heavily intoxicated man was found on the same property, but it's unknown what his relation to the shooting is at this point.

"He appeared to show signs of intoxication, and we're currently interviewing at our headquarters right now to see what role he played and if he was involved in this at all," Sgt. Tom Grilione with the Fresno County Sheriff's Office said.

Detectives are in the area investigating what led up to the shooting.
