Six dead including two children after car drives into sinkhole in Crimea

Six people including two children tragically died after their car fell into a huge sinkhole in the middle of the road near the Crimean capital of Simferopol.

According to Page Six, Ibrail Eskandarov, 34, was driving his family in the vehicle at night on September 27 when the sinkhole appeared in the middle of the road outside the Crimean Capital of Simferopol. Eskanadrov slammed on his brakes, still was unable to avoid the sinkhole. A spokesperson for the Emergencies Ministry said the passengers died instantly.

Forty-three rescue personnel and 16 vehicles were utilized in the rescue effort. The accident took the lives of Eskandarov, his wife Eskandarova, 33, twins Asan and Muslim, 3, and Aliye, 6.

The accident also took the life of family friend Salimova Asiye, 37, but her 1-year-old child Serim and 12-year-old daughter Levida survived the crash but are still in critical condition, according to RT.com.

The sinkhole was at least 20 feet deep and 25 feet wide, according to reduce workers on the scene. The sinkhole also cut out power and lighting, making it impossible to see at night.
