Southeast Fresno shooting leaves woman dead

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of a 51-year-old woman in Southeast Fresno.

Fresno police went to Fifth Street near Butler Avenue around 7 a.m. Saturday and found the victim with a gunshot wound to her upper body. The woman was transported to Community Regional Medical Center, where she later died. Her name has not been released.

Investigators say the victim was inside her home when she was shot by someone outside. Other family members were in the home, but they were not injured.

Authorities say it's not known if this was a gang-related shooting, and they are still working to identify possible suspects.
