FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Recent storms have been welcomed by both farmers and ranchers.
The steady rain has brought new life to Roger Tweedy's foothill ranch. Storms have created a lush, bright green backdrop.
It's enough to put a big smile on Roger's face.
Tweedy said, "Oh my cowboy prayers finally got answered."
The beef cattle have sounded the call for supper. They're feeding just as quickly as the grass grows.
Tweedy said, "It made the grass just jump out of the ground. It's still a little short but the cows can grab ahold of it now and eat it."
Roger hoped this was the beginning of the end of three years of drought.
During dry times ranchers are forced to buy supplemental feed.
Tweedy explained, "I had to buy a lot of extra hay this year. I cut my herd down by 25%. The ground was showing through and no grass on it."
Because of rising feed costs Tweedy had no choice but to sell off calves and cows much earlier than he wanted to this summer.
The sight of cows feeding in the pasture was one Tweedy hopes lasts for a while.
"I notice the calves getting fat real fast when they get to eat that filaree."
Roger hoped the clouds have much more to give this winter.
