Suspect wanted after Clovis burglary caught on camera
A Clovis man is asking for help to catch the gutsy thief who walked away with his expensive motorcycle gear.

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Clovis man catches a woman on camera stealing stuff right out of his garage in broad daylight. That man is now asking for your help to catch the gutsy thief who walked away with his expensive motorcycle gear.

The burglary happened near the intersection of Bullard and Sunnyside in Clovis. It's Thursday afternoon and a driver in a light colored van slowly drives by and spots a window of opportunity. Moments later you see a woman in a brown tube top and brown hair mosey inside Harold Sterns' garage.

"She took the really expensive bell with the communicator on it because we talk back and forth when we ride," said victim Harold Sterns.

The video is from security cameras the Sterns bought to protect their home business. Now he says they're planning on trading these in for high definition ones so if anyone comes back they can get a clear picture of the culprit.

"I'm hurt. I mean it's personal; it's my helmet that I just got for my bike. We got our bikes for our anniversary," said Sterns.

Sterns and his wife just recently celebrated their 20th anniversary and bought matching bikes to commemorate the milestone. Along with the helmet, the suspect took gloves and a backpack and waltzed right out of the garage -- just in time before neighbors across the street could notice her.

"It really hurts because it was probably someone in the biking community. Like I said, she probably had someone to give it to or somebody she knows that rides," said Sterns.

Moral of this story: don't leave your garage open even in the daytime.

Anyone who recognizes the woman is asked to contact the Clovis Police Department at (559) 324-2556. Callers can remain anonymous.
