FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Tulare County Sheriff's Office is investigating the theft of some valuable equipment from the Lemon Cove fire station.

Investigators say thieves broke into a fire truck and stole the Jaws of Life used for vehicle extractions. "Very disheartening to lose equipment that's specific to public safety but very disheartening because it was raised by the community -- the funds for that item," Chief Charlie Norman with the Tulare County Fire Department said.

They're worth between $18,000 and $20,000.
