A wholesale jeweler in the valley for the holidays has been hit by thieves. Now he's offering a reward in hopes whoever took off with the merchandise returns it. The Fresno Police Department is looking into leads as they investigate the break-in.

A rude awakening for a Bakersfield man who discovered his minivan had been broken into during his stay at a Northwest Fresno hotel. Thieves busted into the vehicle, taking, in all, $400,000 worth of Native American jewelry.

The man, who didn't want to be identified for the interview, said all but one duffel bag was left in the back of the van. He works as a wholesale jeweler with clients throughout the country and had intended on selling the items inside. "After, the Christmas season is our best season. Pretty much was our season to sell," explained Abdelhamid Dalia, victim's son.

Because the pieces are distinct, he and his family are checking with local pawn shops and jewelry galleries to see if they have been resold. Items taken include silver necklaces, bracelets, and rings. Some containing turquoise and coral stones. "He was fully stocked for the year. They took all but one bag, but that doesn't have enough for us to tackle or hit the road for one year," said Dalia.

In the meantime, he and his family are offering up a $10,000 reward to anyone with information on where the precious pieces may be. "That $10,000 is a small dent to what it means to us as far as our livelihood. For my dad's sake, it's what he depends on-- it's what we depend on," said Dalia.

The Bakersfield father said he is shocked it happened but said he is optimistic his belongings will be returned. "I was up and down so many times in my life I hope I can rebuild myself."

Anyone with information on where the jewelry may be can contact the family directly. Their phone number is: 559-259-28-22.
