Toys for Tots surpasses donation goal

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Generous donors in Fresno County made sure nearly every child in need is getting a toy this holiday season.

Toys for Tots and the Marine Corps League of Fresno collected almost 45,000 toys this year.

They surpassed their original goal, and on Wednesday, they passed out gifts to children on their wait list. "My family is going through a difficult time right now," parent Aleja Aguirre said. "So, this helps out a lot."

Last year, the local organization fell short and had to turn people away.

Organizers say they got a large donation just last week, and that helped supply today's final giveaway.
