TULARE COUNTY (KFSN) -- Sheriff Boudreaux announced Friday the passing of one of the departments K-9s, Kaytu. The 6-year-old Belgian Malinois died from an intestinal blockage, which officials said may have been attributed to the extreme warm temperatures.
Kaytu and his handler, Deputy Corey Evans, were stationed out of the Pixley Substation until recently when they were moved to headquarters.
The sheriff's office said Kaytu was with the department for five years.
"Our hearts go out to Deputy Evans and all of our K-9 handlers who worked with him and Kaytu," Sheriff Boudreaux said.
