TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) -- Two teens are behind bars Wednesday. Tulare police say they attacked a man at a home on the 1800 block of Cabrillo Avenue on Saturday.

Sgt. Andy Garcia with the Tulare Police Department said, "The victim was immediately rushed to a local area hospital for emergency care."

Sgt. Garcia says 54-year-old Maynard John died at the hospital. Detectives arrested two 16-year-old boys and are questioning a third.

Investigators will be presenting the case to the district attorney's office for charges. Tulare County Assistant District Attorney Anthony Fultz says they'll look at a lot of information before deciding if the teens should be charged as adults.

Fultz explained, "We're going to look at any prior criminal history that the juvenile might have, any prior conduct that we're aware of that they might have, any gang affiliations if they have that, we're going to look at the conduct itself."

Police say this crime isn't gang related or a random act of violence and it's unknown if the boys have a prior criminal record. Right now they aren't saying how the suspects knew the victim or what weapon was used.

This is the second homicide in Tulare for the year. Tulare police ask that anyone with information in this case contact the police department.
