Valley sees fire, rain, wind on Halloween night
From trick-or-treating to Friday Night Football, the weather put a damper on a lot of events.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Forty-five mile an hour winds are the reason for an eerie brush fire Friday night in Fresno County.

A power pole knocked down due to high winds sparked flames in a nature conservancy near Friant Road and Willow Avenue.

"We're just in a position now of pulling people out because it's just too dangerous in the dark of night to go in there, with all the oak trees that have burned and I got trees falling over, so it's just a little bit unsafe," said Cal Fire Battalion Chief Mike Bowman.

The fire has burned somewhere from 45 to 100 acres, but thanks to the rain it didn't burn out of control.

The same winds that caused this fire made it tough for fans to watch the game at Lamonica Stadium in Clovis where Friday Night Football fans shivered under umbrellas.

But the fiercest of trick-or-treaters enjoyed the sudden change to fall.

"The weather is spooky. Nice weather for Halloween," said Patricia Gaytan.

On Huntington Boulevard, there was no shortage of frigid moms and dads being towed along by eager little ones.

"Yeah, I think this is the first time it's been really cold," said Elena Arzola.

When the rain would pour at certain times in the night, there wasn't a soul in sight.

"I think the die-hards are going to be out all night," said Becky Foore-Hayde.

The Cal Fire Crews can't fight the fire until Saturday morning because it was too dark Friday night.
