FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The Fresno couple caught in a flash flood near Las Vegas is finally home. Loren and Margie Miller made worldwide news when a cell phone camera captured their minivan plunging down a freeway embankment.

Loren and Margie Miller brought home what they could salvage after their minivan was swept away by a flash flood near Las Vegas, while they were still inside.

Cell phone video captured what looked like a tragedy as the van was swept backwards down a 15 foot drop off the I 15 Freeway.

Married 46 years their worst fears were of losing one another in the floodwaters. Margie was swept away.

"I probably was thinking more likely than not, I will never see her again. That really is what it looked like," Loren said.

Margie recalled her fight to survive. "Well it was very scary, I just praying constantly and swimming the best I could I didn't know what to do and I just was praying, help me Jesus, help me."

Loren was rescued by construction workers, Margie made it to shore with the help of a policeman. And they are as surprised as anyone that they survived.

"It's just a gift, we went through something horrible it could have been the whole other way," said Loren. "And here we are we are alive and well."

Margie added, "And nothing happened that put us in the hospital."

The flood ended their cross country trip to visit family. But, they both agree they will try it again.

"We wanna do the same trip in May," said Loren. "Things get better, we want to do the same trip."

But they'll have to get a new car. Their brand new Toyota Mini Van was destroyed, and because the flood is considered an act of God, their insurance might not pay for it. But they say it's a small price to pay for what they endured and survived.
