VISALIA, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Visalia man will spend most of the rest of his life in state prison after killing a teenager. The 35 year prison sentence has been a long time coming for the teenage victim's family.

Emilio Molina's family and friends packed the courtroom wearing shirts with the 17-year-old's picture that read "Justice Served."

Molina's killer, Edwin Canedo, plead guilty to the crime in February. As part of that agreement he waived all rights to appeals. Outside court the family says it doesn't bring closure - but they're glad the judicial process is over.

Molina was killed in June 2009. He was dating Canedo's step-daughter when he was killed. Family says he was incredibly active with the boys and girls club. The judge told the family he hopes they remember and honor him by being successful in their own lives.
