FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash near Bass Lake after a bicyclist stumbled upon the accident.

The crash happened on Road 274 south of Fawn Point Lane. Officers say the cyclist noticed an overturned Jeep Wrangler and called for help on Saturday morning.

Investigators say for some reason the driver of the Jeep went off the road and down an embankment about 100 feet. She died at the scene. The Madera County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver as Melana Gaylene Allen, 19, of Fresno.

CHP officers say she was wearing a seat belt, and alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
