Woman shot in Central Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Fresno Police Officers are investigating a shooting in Central Fresno that sent one woman to the hospital.

It happened on Pontiac and Effie streets. When police arrived they found a 19-year-old woman had been shot. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police believe the shooting happened after two groups of people confronted each other. They say an argument may have escalated and led to gunfire coming from both parties.

No one has been arrested and no word if this was gang related.
