FRESNO, Calif. -- Tulare County deputies say a 20-year-old woman was shot and killed in the South Valley Thursday evening.
It happened just before 6:00 p.m. in the area of Avenue 196 and Road 232 in Strathmore.
Deputies say the victim and her boyfriend were in a car when someone flashed gang signs at them. They believe a suspect or suspects then fired a gun.
Investigators say the man and woman tried to drive away -- but a car pulled up towards them and someone fired another shot.
Detectives say the second round of gunfire hit the woman who died at a nearby hospital.
At this point they're looking to speak with any witnesses.
The suspect's car is described as a 90s black four door -- possibly a Lexus.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office.
