Cat House on the Kings holds open house fundraiser
It featured music, food and a silent auction, and all proceeds from the event help the no-kill lifetime cat rescue and sanctuary keeps it's doors open for the next six months.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of people are helping an animal sanctuary stay in business by supporting their fundraiser in Parlier.

The event brought people in from all the over the world as part of the non-profit's bi-annual open house. It featured music, food and a silent auction, and all proceeds from the event help the no-kill lifetime cat rescue and sanctuary keeps its doors open for the next six months.

It also gives those in the Central Valley a chance to see the work volunteers do while meeting all the great felines.

"A lot of people don't realize that this gem exists in their backyard, as far as the Central Valley goes," Beth Caffrey with The Cat House on the Kings said. "So, we get visitors from all over the world and they do come in especially for this event because it is so fun. We've had people take planes and trains and other things just to get here."

If you missed out on the event, newsletter sign-ups for the next spring open house have already begun. Since the cat sanctuary opened 23 years ago, more than 31,000 animals have been rescued.
