MADERA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Dozens of local dogs are getting involved in a good cause.

More than 40 canines and their companions took part in the 5th annual "Bark for Life" at the Lions Town and Country Park in Madera on Saturday.

It started with opening ceremonies then a walk, before wrapping up with a raffle and games, including the doggie-owner look-alike contest. A DJ also donated his time to keep the crowd entertained.

Organizers say they raised at least $3,000 for the American Cancer Society.

The event also celebrates service dogs and those that stay by the sides of cancer patients throughout their battle.
