Nina Pham, a 26-year-old nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, became the first person to contract Ebola in the United States. She was part of the medical team that cared for Thomas Eric Duncan, who was diagnosed with Ebola after traveling to the U.S. from Liberia. Duncan died Oct. 8.

After Pham was diagnosed, her 1-year-old King Charles Spaniel, Bentley, was quarantined inside Pham's apartment before being transported to Hensley Field on Monday.

Dallas Animal Services is caring for the dog and monitoring its condition. Tuesday evening, officials posted a video of Bentley, showing the dog inside a large crate. The video appears to have been shot through a window from another room.

Officials have also been posting photos and updates on Bentley's condition to the Dallas Animal Services Facebook page. According to the most recent update posted Wednesday morning, "Bentley is bright and alert this morning. Looking good and happy to see us!"

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has said the city will do everything it can to care for Pham's beloved dog.

Last week, there was a sizable backlash from animal rights activists around the world when Spanish officials euthanized a dog belonging to a nurse in that country who had contracted the virus.
