FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Hundreds of dogs and their owners are resting up after a day of fun filled exercise in North Fresno.

Valley Animal Center hosted its annual "Wiggle Waggle Walk" and "Furry 5K Run" at Woodward Park this Sunday morning.

The event raises money to help the no-kill shelter cover the costs of day-to-day rescue operations.

After completing the two mile course, participants could enjoy a festival filled with vendor booths.

Several other rescue groups and shelters were on hand to offer information and try to find homes for their adorable adoptables.

And a local flyball group showed just how awesome rescued dogs can be. "They all have such stories and personalities., and we see it in the rescues that are out there still looking for their homes. We know so much the heart and soul that's in there if we can just find them the right place," said Lavada Montgomery of Mutts In Motion.

Sunday's event also included a raffle and silent auction with prizes including custom dog houses.
