FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- Detectives spent much of the day collecting clues and talking to neighbors after a man was found shot to death inside of a black Cadillac just before 4 a.m. on Tuesday.

Homeowners woke up to find a deadly crime scene on Santa Ana Avenue, between Fifth and Sixth Street, down the road from Tioga Middle School.

"It appears the shooting occurred at the residence," said Fresno Police Sgt. Andre Benson.

"We are currently speaking to multiple individuals who may be connected with this," said Benson.

The victim identified as Robert Rodriguez, 35, was shot multiple times and found slumped behind the wheel with the car parked on the front lawn.

According to police Rodriguez did not live at the home where his body was discovered.

"The victim does not live here but has friends who reside at the location," said Sgt. Benson.

Detectives are not releasing details on any possible suspects or a motive but say the shooting in this northeast Fresno neighborhood is a bit surprising.

I'm not aware of this being a common location where we have shots being fired," said Benson.
