Police looking for driver involved in hit and run near Strathmore that sent 14-year-old to the hospital
The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who hit a 14-year-old girl who was walking in a crosswalk near Strathmore.

PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KFSN) -- The California Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who hit a 14-year-old girl who was walking in a crosswalk in Porterville.

Authorities said they received a call on Monday about a traffic collision on Avenue 196 at Road 230 at 6:15 on Monday night. When an officer arrived on scene they found a 14-year-old girl who had been hit while crossing the street.

Detectives determined during their investigation that a male driver headed east on Avenue 196 hit the girl throwing her through the air. After the crash, authorities said the driver briefly stopped before fleeing the scene.

The suspect car is described as a small red four-door sedan. The make and model are not known and authorities do not have a description for the driver.

The girl was airlifted to Kaweah Delta Medical Center with major injuries.
