Police say Central Fresno teen dies after being shot by family member

On Wednesday, Fresno Police received a call of shots being fired. When officer's arrived they located a 16-year-old victim lying in front of the residence on Michigan and Angus -- near First and Shields.

He was transported to CRMC for treatment, but unfortunately due to his injuries was pronounced deceased at the hospital a few hours later.

Homicide Detectives determined that the victim had been involved in a disturbance with a family member.

During the disturbance, the victim was shot in the upper body area and had suffered severe trauma from the injury.

The suspect then fled the area on foot.

Officers who arrived in the area, for the original shooting call, detained a juvenile suspect running from the area a short distance away.

He turned out to be the involved suspect in the case. He was interviewed and booked into the Fresno County Juvenile Detention Center for murder.
