Bernie Sanders set to make two valley appearences
The valley is set to "Feel the Bern" this weekend. Senator Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate has two rallies planned for Sunday - one in Visalia and another in Fresno, hours later.

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- The valley is set to "Feel the Bern" this weekend. Senator Bernie Sanders, the Democratic presidential candidate has two rallies planned for Sunday - one in Visalia and another in Fresno, hours later.

On Friday, Sanders was in Pamona, "you know when you watch TV, they tell you about action news right? So let me give you a little bit of action news," he said.

For Fresno, his latest news was a change of venue. He was set to speak at Woodward Park on Sunday but made a last minute move to the Fresno Fairgrounds because there was a huge response.

Laurie King, the deputy manager of the Big Fresno Fair said, "really, it goes to show we can accommodate anything."

She says, the Paul Paul Theater, where Sanders will take the stage has 5,000 seats and space for a couple thousand more people outside in the overflow area.

"Just make it as easy as possible for people to get in," King added.

Katy Sumner who was in Downtown Fresno protesting the Donald Trump rally says she'll be there, "it'll mean a lot...it's history...I plan on taking my kids."

We found Nolan Yamada on the same chaotic street, "we're out here to show Fresno, we won't stand for a man who spreads hate," Yamada said.

This is the first time Yamada has followed politics closely. He's still in high school. He wants Sanders to be the next president and he plans to be in the crowd at the fairgrounds.

"Getting to see him speak in person is gonna be really meaningful and hopefully, powerful and moving," he said.

It's been a tough campaign for Sanders. He's trailing behind Hilary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. Still, he hasn't given up and there is clearly support for him in the valley.

Sunday's schedule for Bernie Sanders:

Groppetti Community Stadium in Visalia

Doors open at 2 pm.

Fresno Fairgrounds

Doors open at 5 pm.

The rallies are free to the public but an RSVP is strongly encouraged.
