Fresno declares June 25 My Job Depends on Ag Day

FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- A Facebook group that's grown to tens of thousands of members received recognition from the Fresno City Council on Thursday.

The page My Job Depends on Ag was started in May by Erik Wilson of Dos Palos and has more than 26,000 members from across the country. On Thursday, the City Council acknowledged the group, declaring it My Job Depends on Ag Day.

Wilson says he started the page to help people outside the Valley understand how important Ag is and the enormous reach it has across several industries.

"I actually was kind of scared when I set it up and I got done and pushed the 'done' button because I was like, 'Oh, I'm gonna bite off more than I can chew' because I know Ag is hungry to tell their story. We don't have a voice a lot of times to tell the story," said Wilson. "Our goal is to kind of get the people who are outside our region to say, 'You know what? Those people are doing a good job in there. We need to continue farming in the San Joaquin Valley.'"

The group is also selling My Job Depends on Ag decals for $5 and $10. You can find a link by clicking here. Wilson says he plans to use the money to set up a scholarship for teens getting involved in Ag.
