Hillary Clinton completes trio of Presidential candidates to visit Fresno
FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- California's primary is just three days away and on Saturday, a third presidential candidate visited the valley.
Secretary Hillary Clinton had no problem riling up her supporters, keeping her speech focused on California and its voters.
"I want California to lead the world in renewable energy," she told the crowd.
She touched on the drought and immigration.
"We will work on water and get this fixed," Clinton said. "And I will make sure that right here in Fresno and the surrounding area, where we have such productive agriculture, workers will not be rounded up and deported by Donald Trump."
She noticeably didn't mention her Democratic opponent Bernie Sanders, but made digs Donald Trump throughout the rally.
"Donald trump is not fit to be President," she said.
On stage, her supporters included local leaders like Fresno council member Esmeralda Soria.
"We must be led by a President with respect, integrity and inclusiveness," she exclaimed. "And that is Hillary Clinton."
And Clinton was the first candidate of all the Presidential hopefuls who recently visited to get a show of support from a local congress member.
"She wants to help governor brown fix our broken water system and fix our broken immigration system which is critical to the San Joaquin Valley," Representative Jim Costa said.
After the standing-room-only rally, she made a quick exit but not before making time for a few selfies.
The Edison High School gymnasium was packed.
It was so packed that Willie Lopez was one of nearly 400 people who were stuck outside because of overcrowding.
"Some of the people I brought got in," he said. "I didn't get a chance to get in."
But it was a different story for Lilian Koenig, she was not only able to get inside but also do something very few had the chance to do.
"Got to shake her hand and told her all the way to the hill, Hillary," Koenig said. "It was worth every single drop of sweat on my back."
And it was so hot that Clinton's campaign team passed out bottles of water and ice to folks standing in line, including one local gay rights activist who has traveled to Washington DC - fighting for sex-same equality.
"There's no denying that she is the progressive leader that has the experience is going to be fantastic in the White House," supporter Robin McGehee said.
Not everyone outside supported Clinton. Julius Rasmussen was one of a few protestors at the rally.
"I think we have a lousy field of people to choose from this time," he said.
But Kathleen McKinley believes Clinton does have the qualifications to lead America and also inspire younger generations.
"For all the young-looking, this is how someone breaks through those ceilings and achieve the highest office," she said. "Now I'm saying it before she is elected, but she will be elected."
